Udinese activated their option to buy Nicolò Zaniolo from Galatasaray, but as they have still not agreed personal terms over a new contract, he could yet move elsewhere.
The restless Italy international has been almost constantly travelling since forcing an exit from Roma in February 2023.
That €15m switch to Galatasaray lasted just six months before loan experiences with Aston Villa, Atalanta, Fiorentina and last summer Udinese.
Zaniolo seeking consistency at Udinese
After six goals and as many assists in 34 competitive appearances, the Friulani decided to activate their option to buy him outright from Galatasaray for €5m plus a 50 per cent cut of his future sale fee.
However, Sky Sport Italia report that negotiations have so far failed to reach an agreement on personal terms for a new contract.
This was not already agreed because his switch to Udinese was rushed in the final minutes of the transfer window, so only a vague idea was sketched out with the plan to revisit at the end of the season.
That hasn’t so far worked, because the player and club have been talking for weeks with no solution in sight.
Transfer pundit Gianluca Di Marzio warns that if the situation is not resolved quickly, then Zaniolo will start looking around for a new project.
